Tie onesie cookies and coconut cake

full set with onesie feature

Celebrating the arrival of little boys with soft blues is a party theme favorite for me. This set was for a “sip and see” shower to welcome the arrival of baby John. I made favor cookies, tied up in cellophane bags with silver-gray ribbon and a coconut rose design cake, incorporating that soft blue into the buttercream roses.  The cake was finished with a dash of toasted coconut. I tucked that same coconut into the layers for some extra crunch. For the bottle cookies, I wanted to use that deep yellow of early fall and the signature baby boy blue.

Silly sweet treat Valentine cookies

It was right there in my old-fashioned mini paper calendar, all along. Already pre-marked and everything: Valentine’s Day, February 14th. It was even the number I’ve come to expect since, I don’t know how long:  when I learned to count. Nonetheless, it creeped up on me to the tune of 2:00 a.m. last night. Before this one slips by, I have a little wedding set of cookies

My baby wrote me a letter…

…said he couldn’t live without me no more. Listen, mister, can’t you see I got to get back to my baby once more–anyway… Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane, I ain’t got time to take a fast train. Lonely days are gone, I’m a-goin’ home, ‘Cause my baby wrote me a letter. No, juuuuuust kidding.  Thank you, Box Tops (and Joe Cocker).  My baby is still just here, at home with me.  I made these cookies for our Kindergartener’s Valentine’s Day party, all while my husband watched TV downstairs.  That doesn’t mean these roll outs can’t be romantic, right? Hope your V

Snowflakes that stay on my tongue (but not for long!)

Gingerbread. And holiday cookies in general. These are a few of my favorite things. We had a few more people to thank for all the wonderfulness we received from our little community after my daughter’s brief stay in the hospital. So, to round out the gratitude, I baked these little gingerbread beauties over the long Thanksgiving weekend for delivery early in December, before we all reach holiday cookie overload. I tried to strike a winter/love ya theme for these cookies. I’ve always wanted to a do a classic snowflake. The heart stands for all we hoped to express (a ginormous
