My daughter’s preschool has a fundraising auction every year about this time. A friend whose daughter’s class was putting together a dental care basket (full of real dental care items like electric toothbrushes and such) asked that I make some dental themed cookies to throw in for fun.
Or maybe just to ensure that the basket winner would indeed have teeth to clean!
I started with the teeth – so cute – all animated and cavity free! Also, can you believe that they actually make tooth cookie cutters? Apparently, dental care cookies are a thing.
Cookies to actually bake, layer with loads of sugar – and then put in your mouth! To touch your actual teeth! Banish the thought. (;
Because we need to hurry and brush off all of that sugar, I made some cookies of a tooth’s besties – dental floss, brushes and toothpaste. And then there’s the affirming smile shirt, an x-ray and the before and after faces with braces cookies!
Finally, we need to round it out with the beloved tooth fairy and the little pillow that harbors the lost tooth until she can flutter by and leave a little bit of fairy money. In our house, it’s an itty bit of fairy money – there’s a lot of teeth yet to lose!
